vinyl, fiberglass/fiberglass clad wood, wood, or aluminum clad wood?
I am not impressed with vinyl, but notice it being used quite often. I would rather pay for something based on value. I have no problem paying more for wood, fiberglass, or Aluminum clad wood if they hold up better. Maybe vinyl is o.k. but my experience is plastics are usually over rated. What are your experiences with these products. Are there any customers that have had these products for a long time with positve or negative results? Thanks
We built our home almost 15 years ago and our (overpriced) wood windows have mildew on them. So the first consideration is, are you in a high humidity area or an area that is prone to ice build up. We poly'd (3 coats) thinking that would preserve them. Only 3 years after we put in the wooden windows, we enclosed a deck that faces north west, and put in vinyl clad (very inexpensive) units.
